Taiwan is an island nation in East Asia, located just off the coast of mainland China. While Taiwan has had a complicated and sometimes tumultuous history, today it is a vibrant democracy and a global leader in press freedom, healthcare, human rights, and political freedom. The island's high-tech industry plays a key role in the global economy, and it is among the most highly educated countries in the world.Visitors to Taiwan must obtain a visa in advance, unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries or countries whose nationals are eligible for visa on arrival. All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months (except the citizens of Japan and the United States who are only required to hold a passport valid for the entire duration of stay).
LIST OF COUNTRIES ARE EXEMPTED FROM TAIWAN VISA
Citizens of countries are allowed a maximum stay of 90 days: Andorra, Australia (effective from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2018), Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Haiti, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia (effective from May 21, 2018 to March 31, 2019), Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tuvalu, the United Kingdom, the United States of America,and Vatican City State.
Citizens of countries are allowed a maximum stay of 30 days: Belize, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Malaysia, Nauru, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Singapore.
Citizens of countries are allowed a maximum stay of 14 days: Thailand (effective from August 1, 2016, to July 31, 2019), Brunei (effective from August 1, 2016, to July 31, 2019), Philippines (effective from November 1, 2017, to July 31, 2019).
WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR VISA ON ARRIVAL
Nationals of the following countries can obtain a visa on arrival:
- Macedonia
- Turkey
NOTES:
- Holders of emergency or temporary passports with validity of more than 6 months issued by visa-exempt countries are eligible for visa on arrival for a fee. The duration of stay is 30 days regardles of nationality and cannot be extended. This measure does not apply to holders of emergency or temporary passports issued by the United States as they are visa exempt.
- Visa on arrival is only available at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. For passengers arriving at Taipei Songshan Airport, Kaohsiung International Airport or Taichung Airport, they would be issued a temporary entry permit and will have to apply for a visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs office or one of the offices of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan at their earliest convenience.
Vietnamese citizens (haven’t exported labor abroad) containing valid visa of America, Canada, Britain, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the European Schengen (including residence card) shall be exempt from Taiwan entry and staying in 30 days. However, the applicant should register online to be considered for visa, after approval, they may conduct the procedure of air plane and entry Taiwan.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR TAIWAN VISA APPLICATION
- Original passport valid for at least 06 months from the date of entry into Taiwan;
- Passport photocopy;
- 02 passport photos in 4cm x 6cm size white background, must be taken within the last 6 months;
- Application form signed by the applicant.
For business purpose, please provide following documents:
- Original invitation letter from the company in Taiwan (showing all information: address, phone number, fax number... company’s signature and seal);
- Business Registration Certification of company in Taiwan;
- A copy of ID or Residence Card of the inviter in Taiwan;
- Original and a copy of Business Registration Certification of the company in Vietnam;
- Original Letter of business decision;
- Original and a copy of Labor contract;
- Original and copy of Health insurance and Social insurance book issued by Vietnam authority
For visit purpose, please provide following documents:
- Proof of employment (Labor contract, social insurance, health insurance...);
- For business owners: Business Registration Certification;
- For employees: Leave of absence letter;
- Proof of financial standing: a copy of passbook;
- A copy of hotel reservation;
- A copy of return air-ticket.
- Travel Itinerary.
VALIDITY OF VISA
- Taiwan visa is valid for single entry for 03 month.
- The duration of stay is up to 14 days.
PROCESSING TIME
The visa processing time is from 5 to 7 days working days.
