MYANMAR VISA

Situated on the most westerly point of the Southeast Asian landmass, Myanmar is one of the most physically diverse and beautiful countries in the region. It is a country of hills and valleys, mountains and beaches, temples and jungles. From its beautiful landscapes and rich history, Myanmar is a destination like no other, offering the visitor a veritable treasure of wonders and delights unmatched in the world today. A foreign national wishing to enter Myanmar must obtain a visa unless he or she is a citizen of one of the eligible visa exempt countries. However, according to the Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Population, it allowed 101 countries to get E-visa and 51 countries for visa on arrival. To obtain a visa, all visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months, tourist visa is valid for entry for 03 months from the date of issue. The duration of stay is up to 28 days and is not extendable, while business visa is valid three months from the date of issue. The duration of stay is up to 70 days from the date of arrival and can be extendable;

LIST OF COUNTRIES ARE EXAMPTED FROM MYANMAR VISA

Citizens from 8 countries do not require a visa to enter Myanmar for tourism and business visits for up to 14 days: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

VISA ON ARRIVAL

Myanmar has announced the resumption of Visa-On-Arrival (VOA) starting in June 2012 for several countries including all ASEAN member states, the EU, New Zealand and the USA. The following categories of VOA are available:

• Business Visa, valid up to 70 days upon entry;
• Entry Visa (Meetings/Workshops/Events) valid up to 28 days upon entry;
• Transit Visa valid up to 24 hours upon entry.

According to Myanmar Airways, VOA is available for tourists of all nationalities for USD30 (as of February 2013), but only on flights with their airline from Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Guangzhou.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR MYANMAR VISA APPLICATION

1. Original passport valid for at least 06 months from the date of entry into Myanmar and has 02 full empty pages;
2. Passport photocopy;
3. 2 passport photos in 4x6 cm size white background, must be taken within the last 06 months;
4. A copy of Vietname temporary residence card or multiple visa, work permit applied for foreigner working  in Vietnam;
5. Application form signed by the applicant;
6. Online Appointment Letter from Embassy’s website;
7. Birth Certificate is required to submit if the applicant is under 15 years old;
8. Applicants may be asked to provide other documents if and when necessary.

For business purpose, please provide following documents:

1. A invitation letter from company in Myanmar;
2. A copy of passport from inviter.
3. Letter of business decision;
4. Labor Contract;
5. Notorized true copy of Business Registration Certification;

For social visits please provide following documents:

1. Copy of hotel booking in Myanmar;
2. Air ticket booking (in & out of Myanmar).

VALIDITY OF VISA

• Tourist visa: Valid for entry for 03 months from the date of issue. The duration of stay is up to 28 days and is not extendable;
• Business visa: Valid three months from the date of issue. The duration of stay is up to 70 days from the date of arrival and can be extendable;
• Social visa: Valid for 03 months from the date of issue. The duration of stay is up to 28 days from the date of arrival and can be extendable;
• Religious visa: Valid for (3) months from date of issue. The duration of stay is up to 70 Days from date of arrival and can be extendable.

PROCESSING TIME

The visa processing time is from 07 to 10 days working days.
